About This Wine
Sauvignon is a bit of a rebel - its name comes from the French word for wild after all - and back in the days when people drank wine only from single use bottles it was the first to have a screw cap. As grapes go, it's very much a French immigrant and was probably introduced to Friuli Venezia Giulia, where more than three quarters of Italy's Sauvignon vines are planted, during the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
